Coach Cheryl Holden talks about her journey from a small town in Washington to Vice-President at Columbia Basin College. We discuss the importance of the process and not the outcome as well as what a “normal coach” should look like. If we expect others to act or perform in a certain way, we better provide the appropriate opportunities. If we want more women to coach, then we need to think about our policies and procedures such as a “child friendly campus.” Coach Holden has been extremely successful on the court, by the way the court is named after her, but she doesn’t even know what her win loss record is because it doesn’t matter. What matters is if she is invited to the wedding.
